2025 Buick Enclave Gets Revitalized as the Brand's Grandest SUV (2024)

  • The 2025 Buick Enclave receives a redesign that makes it bigger than before and adopts the brand's new face, which was inspired by the Wildcat concept.
  • The three-row mid-size SUV also gains a snazzier cabin with a curved 30-inch display; it's also the first Buick to offer GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving system.
  • Every Enclave replaces the old 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 with a new 328-hp 2.5-liter turbo four that pairs with either front- or all-wheel drive.

With the redesigned 2025 Buick Enclave, the brand has completed its transformation into a new era of design. What began with the Wildcat EV concept almost two years ago has now proliferated throughout the Buick showroom, with the sharply styled coupe inspiring the look of the all-SUV lineup, from the subcompact Encore GX and wagon-like Envista to the compact Envision and now the new Enclave.

A Revitalized Enclave

The Buick Enclave is the corporate cousin to the Chevy Traverse and GMC Acadia, both of which also just entered new generations. GM's trio of three-row mid-size SUVs share a platform and mechanical bits, but each has a unique appearance and audience. Buick caters to a clientele that's a step below Cadillac's full-on luxury, particularly with its ritzy Avenir trim.

For 2025, the Enclave's trim levels are revised to include the Preferred, Sport Touring (ST), and Avenir. They're all larger, wider, and taller than their predecessors but ride on the same 120.9-inch wheelbase. Each trim has a unique grille and wheel options, with the latter's default size increasing from 18 inches to 20 on the Preferred and ST and from 20 to 22 inches on the Avenir.

Every Enclave adopts a squarer silhouette. A cool new standard feature is an auto-sensing power liftgate. That means no more awkwardly waving a foot under the rear bumper. Simply walk up to the back of the SUV and wait for three beeps before the hatch opens. Buick's new tri-shield logo now appears on the leading edge of the hood instead of in the grille. The Enclave gains full-width taillights too. On the Avenir all of the exterior lights play a welcome animation for theatrical effect.

The Enclave ST (pictured above) offers a sportier appearance, with black body molding and other matching elements that oppose the Avenir's shiny exterior trim and wheels. Like every model, there's a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder under the hood that makes 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. Its max tow rating remains 5000 pounds with the trailering package.

The Enclave's new engine replaces the old 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6. The previous nine-speed automatic transmission has been traded for an eight-speed unit. Front- or all-wheel drive are still available on every trim, but only the Avenir comes with adaptive dampers. Buick hasn't yet released fuel-economy ratings, but the new powertrain should improve upon the outgoing version's peak of 21 mpg combined.

Inside the New Enclave

The Buick Enclave's interior was cushy before, but classy? Not so much. That changes as the design, materials, and tech features take a big step forward. Adjustable ambient interior lighting is now standard, and the old push-button shifter has migrated from the center console to a stalk on the steering column. We also dig the Avenir's attractive interior color options, which include a pretty blue option on the upper parts of the doors and dash as well as the three-spoke steering wheel.

Still, the interior centerpiece is the new curved 30-inch screen on the dashboard that combines the customizable gauge cluster and infotainment system. The latter uses Google built-in that provides access to maps, a voice assistant, and an app store with Amazon Alexa. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. We also appreciate the static touch controls near the middle of the screen that can be personalized.

Along with a wireless charging pad on the floating center console, a 12-speaker Bose stereo is standard on the Enclave Preferred and ST. Stepping up to the Avenir brings a fancier 16-speaker Bose system. The top trim also includes the best front seats, each with heated, ventilated, and massaging cushions; a panoramic sunroof and heated second-row seats are standard too. The Avenir also comes with a head-up display and power-folding second- and third-row seats, all of which is available on the lower two trims with the Power package.

A whole suite of driver-assistance features are found on every 2025 Buick Enclave. New additions to the roster include automated emergency braking at intersections, steering intervention that helps with blind spots, traffic-sign recognition, and lane-keeping assist. There are also seven exterior camera views, which increases to eight with the towing package and nine with the optional Super Cruise. That's GM's hands-free driving system that makes its Buick debut on the Enclave; it's available on all three trim levels.

Buick hasn't yet released pricing for the 2025 Enclave. However, we expect each trim to see a price hike upwards of $3000, which suggests the Preferred will start at around $49K, the ST will open at about $56K, and the Avenir will be near the $62K mark when the lineup goes on sale sometime later this summer.
