Witches Brew Recipe Ingredients

For this eerie recipe you’ll need:

• Moon drops (water)
• Ground skeleton bones (sugar)
• Pureed flesh (orange juice concentrate)
• Dried dragons blood (unsweetened Koolaid red or blue, blue will produce an eerie green drink)
• Spinal fluid (lemon-lime soda)
• Eye of Newt (grapes)
• Slimy Slithery Worms(Gummy Worms)
• Frozen Venom (dry ice)

Once the witches brew has been thoroughly mixed, use a ladle to serve each guest a glass of this ghostly brew!

Don’t forget to scoop down to the bottom of the cauldron to get the slimy slithery worms and eyes of newt.

What is Dry Ice?

It’s the magic ingredient in our witches brew that makes it so enchanting.

Where Can You Find Dry Ice?

You can typically find dry ice at the grocery store, especially larger chains, often carry dry ice in the freezer section.

My local grocery store carries it in a special freezer near the checkout lanes.

Simply call ahead to confirm availability.

It’s generally sold by weight, for our recipe we need about 2 pounds.

Avoid purchasing dry ice too far in advance, ideally just an hour or two before your party.

Dry ice tends to evaporate quickly, so it’s best to buy it close to the time you need it.

When storing dry ice, place it in a cooler with a partially open lid to prevent the buildup of carbon dioxide gas.

Handling Dry Ice

Handling dry ice requires special care.

Always use insulated gloves or tongs when handling dry ice, as it’s extremely cold and can cause frostbite with direct skin contact.

Also it’s crucial to work in a well-ventilated area, as dry ice sublimates into carbon dioxide gas, which can displace oxygen.

Never seal dry ice in an airtight container, as this can lead to a dangerous buildup of pressure.

Instead, store it in a cooler with the lid slightly open to allow the gas to escape.

When transporting dry ice in a vehicle, keep the windows cracked to maintain adequate ventilation.

Using it in your home is not a problem, just follow these precautions.

Can You Eat Dry Ice?

No! Dry ice is not safe to eat.

It is primarily used for cooling and creating special effects, and it should never be ingested.

Dry ice is extremely cold and cause harm if it comes into contact with your skin, mouth, or digestive system.

It also releases carbon dioxide gas, which can displace oxygen in a confined space, leading to asphyxiation if ingested.

Remember, never eat dry ice!

How to Safely Use Dry Ice in a Drink?

Certainly, you can safely use dry ice in your Halloween witches brew, as long as you don’t ingest it.

When adding dry ice to your bone-chilly punch, keep it in one large piece as it will sink to the bottom of your container.

Then when you ladle up your brew, you won’t scoop it into your drink.

For an eerie effect for our photographs we did add a small piece into our goblets.

Do not serve your Halloween brew with dry ice in the cups, it’s just safer that way!

SERVING IDEA: If you want each glass to be bubbly you may want to use ahammerto break the dry ice into small pieces before adding this to the cauldron.

It’s fun to watch your own glass bubble…just be sure that you DON’T touch or drink the dry ice!

It will eventually dissolve into your glass and stop bubbling, then your brew is safe to drink.
